The 7th annual Toys 4 Tots race in Palm
Desert brought racers out for a great cause this holiday season. The race
had great turnout from beginners to the pro’s including the current world champ Cody King and multi-time national and world champ Mark Pavidis. As he does every year at this race Mark brought out his son Ryan to compete in the 12 and under class.
Each racer was required
to bring an unwrapped gift for each entry. These toys are collected
by the Marines then passed out to families that cannot afford toys for
Christmas. A lot of companies were in attendance and donated prizes to
be raffled off and the money raised would also go to the Toys 4 Tots
foundation. The
Palm Desert R/C Raceway is tucked away in the side of a mountain with
mtn bike and hiking trails surrounding it. Entries were up this year
which is good to see as well as the kids 12 and under class seems to be
growing which is great as we bring in more racers to our hobby. Mark and Cody were able to bring home the wins in Pro-Truggy and Pro-Buggy respectively and Ryan, proving he is a chip off the old block took home the win in the 12 and under class! Rumor has it that Mark was running prototype Truggy wheels due to release in January sometime.
Special thanks to Brian Cross Photography and Steve Burgess at Rugspin Graphix for the use of the pictures. We'd also like to say a big thanks for the guys in Palm Desert for putting on this event every year for the Toys 4 Tots organization!
